The Value of a Name – A Devotional Thought

Categories: News

With their Custom Rose Program, world famous rose growers and retailers, Jackson and Perkins, offer a unique opportunity to bless your sweetheart with a lasting gift this Valentine’s Day. This program allows individuals, companies or organizations to be immortalized by allowing you to personally name a new variety of rose. The privilege costs a mere $75,000!

The cost includes a trip for two to Los Angeles to unveil the new bloom, 300 stems of your namesake rose shipped anywhere to the recipients of your choice along with a certificate bearing your chosen name, and a case of Dom Perignon champagne to toast your immortalization.

I’m sorry to say it is going to be another year before the world meets a rose named “Misty.” However, this story makes me think about what is truly valuable. Not a name we might give a rose, but the new name God has given us when we believed on Christ as Lord, the name “child of God.”

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1).

In Christ,
